SRUC is one of the recipient Higher Education Institutions of a Scottish Government funding project helping students study overseas.
Three as yet unconfirmed SRUC students will receive financial support to spend eight to 10 week-long placements in the USA or China thanks to the Saltire Scholarship project. SRUC has received nearly £5000 to help fund their trips.
Senior Tutor Dr Mark Hocart said: ”We are shortly going to be advertising the scholarships to our third year students, who will have the chance to travel abroad as part of the Research Skills & Data Analysis elements of their courses.
“Spending time overseas can help broaden horizons by introducing new people, new opportunities and new ways of addressing research problems. The Saltire funding will help make those opportunities a reality for more of our students.”
Education Secretary Mike Russell said: “There are an impressive range of opportunities on offer from studying at foreign universities, to exchange programmes and overseas work placements. I look forward to hearing about the experiences of the Scottish students who take up these scholarships.”
