SRUC has celebrated its launch with the creation a new £10,000 bursary that will give students the chance to progress on to further study.
The ‘Going Further’ bursary takes it name from the Colleges’ partnership before the merger on the 1st October.
Explaining why SRUC has launched the bursary, SRUC Chairman, Lord Jamie Lindsay said: “One of the main benefits of the colleges joining to form SRUC is that it gives our students enhanced opportunities to progress their studies from access level right up to PhD.”
“We recognise that financial barriers may limit some students’ academic ambition because they feel they need to leave education and move into the workplace before they would ideally wish. The recipients of the Going Further bursary will be those who can demonstrate they have both the potential and the determination to achieve greater academic success.”
The bursary application process will begin this academic year (2012/13) and will be open to all students in their final year of a course who need financial support to continue their studies.
Students will receive full information about the bursary once the details are finalised.
